New to the area...

Post by Jeff »

Hello ladies and gents, I am new to this site (Underground Ozarks) and to Neosho, Missouri. Thank all of you for having me here. Is there anywhere interesting to explore in the Neosho area? I want buildings, caves and such if you do know of any.

Thank you
Jeff

Hey man, welcome to the site. I'm not too terribly familiar with the Neosho area, but hopefully someone here will know more than me.

Crowder College should have some steam tunnels underneath it, judging by the size of it, though. Webb City's also supposed to have an abandoned hospital, but I believe it may have been turned into apartments by now. There's also a cave somewhere in Monett Park that's been sealed up for decades, but from what I've heard, it's still accessible through a locked metal door somewhere.

Sorry about the lack of info. I haven't gotten down to that area much for years, so hopefully someone who knows more will chime in.

The only thing i have ever heard of down there is the Ghost Light in Joplin... I would love to find out where that is and go down there.

Joplin's spook light:

Take I-44 West from Joplin. Just before the Oklahoma boarder, take Highway 43 South. Go on 43 for 6.3 Miles until you come to Iris, turn right on Iris and go until the road comes to an end in a "T" intersection. This is State line road. Turn right and go to the second graveled left road, which is East 50 Road. This is Devil's Promenade Road, as the nick name was given to it. Go down this road for about 1/2 to 1 mile and find a place to park

I have actually been planning on spending a day around there with my camera and get some interviews with people around the area and thier experiences for a short documentary. My grandpa grew up and still lives there and has some good stories about it. Supposedly there are 3 or 4 areas near devils promenade that people have reported seeing it.

The Joplin area doesn't hold a candle to Rover, Missouri. They actually have a building (This I've actually seen, rather than heard about) with some Nasa guys who are out in the middle of nowhere (which isn't hard to find, You are in Rover) but they're recording footage of these hundreds of "spook lights" and stuff. It's really peculiar. There are so many in Rover though, I'm talking everywhere basically swarming the area.
