It's gonna be too late to explore this building before they're totally renovated. The upper floors are still fairly untouched, but the whole building is pretty creepy. The more they work on it, though, the more the magic is wearing off. It was stranger though, when people still lived there. Before they shut it down I was able to take off with the giant welcome mat, that was originally stolen from IHOP.
They're downtown where Historic Walnut street meets Shitty Walnut street.

RE: Englenook and the surrounding buildings
Englenook is a building currently being renovated that's situated on Walnut St. behind Kentwood Hall. It used to be an awesome building. I always wanted to rent there.

I know Trent. He works at the Library Center on South Campbell. Cool pics. Actually I had stayed in the Ambassador Apartments with two girls for about a month... Let me tell you, you may think it's cool but when you stay in a one room apartment with two other people for even a month, you're ready to tear each other apart!

Englenook and the one next to it have been dives for the last few year. Cop were there almost every night it seemed adn all kinds of ODs and stuff happening as well. Cool looking buildings but not the great people leaving in that it would seem.
RE: Englenook and the surrounding buildings
Well it's nice that they are being rehabed... helps revitalize the neighborhood.

RE: Englenook and the surrounding buildings
I lived across the street from that place, my neighbors and I would sit on our balcony and watch the goings on there. Lots of fights, beatings, people being taken away in ambulences. Now, it's just the Englenook Concentration Camp, with all those fencings. But, they're interesting buildings, and they will be nice after the renovations. And, because of Vision 20/20 they will be cheap, AND nice!

They will be cheap, the purpose of the project, and why they got funding, was to provide housing for low to mid level income people. A friend of mine has already signed a lease for an apartment in one of the smaller buildings.

See, that's why I wanted to live there, precisely because it was such a dive... I don't know why, I just go for stuff like that. It's a fetish, I guess.
