Odd fellows home

Post by ze_beeved »

Before my current job at the ammunition plant(boy I could tell you stories about that place...but then I'd have to kill you  )) I was a land surveyor. A couple years ago we were surveying a lot right next to the odd fellows abandoned asylum/nursing home. Anyone ever been there? I heard that if you go in you can't use the front door because it's still patrolled but I'd love to get in there. MASSIVE place. Heard all kinds of stories about it but no one I know has the cajones to go in. What do you all think?
I don't know where to start.....

I'm member of the Odd Fellows. I'll have to check into it. who knows, I might be able to have access just being a member!

The place is trashed, at least that's what I've heard. I even once overheard some people at my school talking about having gone to it. It was probably once an amazing place, but has since lost it due to vandals.

It's patrolled, at least half-assedly. I've talked to a guy that's got the Odd Fellows gallery up on UER many, many times. Of course, because of their asinine level system, most of you won't be able to see it.

I really hate that level system. I guess i can see the point though. It just sucks when youre a newbie.

What really sucks is when you have no clue what everyone is talking about. I'm not on UER, I have a hard enough time keeping up with this board.

UER has this new level system for members. Guests (non-registered members) are Level 1. Registered members start out as Level 2. Level 1 and Level 2 can't see most of the boards and almost none of the Location Database Gallery. To get Level 3, you have to "prove yourself trustworthy." Which basically means post a lot of useless junk about flashlights and camouflage, kiss a lot of ass, or be trusted by someone who's already Level 3 and can vouch for you.

It's stupid, time-consuming, and doesn't make their locations one single solitary bit safer, which was their original intent.

I joined its okay but not a lot of info for KC. they have it gruoped with the great lakes area so most of the stuff is related to the twin cities and chicago. At least thats what it seems like to me. This site is much more usefull.

There's not much on UER about it. It's in Liberty, MO. Built in 1888 and closed in 1988. I can try to Google up some more info later.

My posting rate depends on two different variables: overall activity of the forum and my ability to comment on the subject. I don't post if I can't add to the discussion.

I'll try to stay more active if you think it would help. :)
