Damn. I saw the story earlier, but they only mentioned the cylinders at the time, not the vault. That is too freaking cool.

I heard all they found was the vault door and the frame. The safe was supposedly from the 70's when it was still legal to booby trap them with gas.

I used to eat at that restaurant all the time (I work at 10th and Grand.)

I have to believe there was a lot of money in the vault, because they sure as hell didn’t spend anything on the restaurant.

the restaurant has not been closed very long. And they were very bitter about being evicted (aigns were all over the front of the building proclaiming their disgust. I therefore doubt they wanted to go through the expense of having th booby traps removed.
