A sobering reminder to always be careful in old buildings.

Unfortunately, this dude ran the Catacombs, one of the older and better Haunted Houses in KC. My Bro-n-law knew him from high school... I guess he also worked for the phone company. I heard that he was working on an elevator ride and the counter-weights werent locked right and they bashed him on the head as something slipped. Freak accident :-(

I met Dennis once or twice. He was a fellow Northlander/Tonka grad.

He was working on building a dark ride in the haunted house and had to remove an old elevator. The cable snapped and hit him in the face, killing him instantly. He then fell down the elevator shaft. It was a real pity, especially since he has five young children at home.

If you think the Catacombs building is creepy as a haunted house, you should see it inside with the lights on. That sucker looks like it should be condemned.

Yeah, my bro-in-law mentioned his kids and all the folks that depended on him... sad, sad, story. My bro-in-law is also a Tonka grad and from the Northland, too.
