Looking for anyone who might know of a sub basement cellar aka cellar under the basement level in a home or multi tenant bldg on Steins. There was a realtor who claimed to have shown a house here that was a lot like Klausmann’s home that also had one.
Carondelet had a number of these at one time and many used the cellars later on as mushroom farms, not necessarily for the need of mushrooms but because it was the most effective way to mitigate damp pungent smells that sometimes occur from basements. If anyone knows any of these please let us know thanks.

RE: Steins Street Cellar
After studying surrounding streets I believe this was where this was. The link shows the sub basement barrel vault. It was the home of Carl Klausmann. His brewery at S Broadway and RDP was built quite a bit later so he likely began his lagering in his home. Rumor has it this was also used as an arms battery during the Civil War but that’s still rumor.
