There dosen't seem to be a whole lot of posts from people exploring St. Louis, so maybe it's time some of the people from the area introduce themselves, make your presence known, whatever.
What places in St. Louis or the surrounding area have you guys been? What was it like? Do you have any other places in mind?
The small group I hang with has only done two places so far, and I've come up with some other places I'd like to go and some others where more scouting is required before anyone tries it.
What we've done-
Wet Willy's water slide - not much there except for typical, cool, and sometimes disturbing tags
Carondelet Coke plant (Great Lakes Carbon Co.) - No problems, highly recommended trip
What we should do-
River Des Peres tunnels - no potential problems known
Silica mines in Pacific - no potential problems known
Ammunition plant on Goodfellow - no potential problems known
Cement plant on Riverview - may be in use
More research is needed on these-
the "tugboat graveyard" in Alton, Ill. - I don't know much about this place, but I've driven past it several times, but it's been awile since the last time.
possible other abandoned industries in Alton or Wood River
Armory building in downtown St. Louis - in use, might have un-used areas, might have security
Tunnels underground St. Louis - unknown
Stupp Bridge Company - unknown, possibly in use
From St. Louis? What have you done, what is there to do?

Yeah, it's mainly my fault that we don't have much activity on here from the St. Louis area. I really need to make a few trips to St. Louis and get a few things from that area on the site.

I've scouted out the plant on Goodfellow. It looks like it's doable, but is going to require some intense fence climbing. I plan on trying it sometime soon.

Somebody bent open one of the gates there, so it shouldn't be too hard to get in. we're going to do it soon.
We're also going to do the silica mines in Pacific and the cement plant on Riverview soon. After we're done at the cement plant we may have to wander over the Chain of Rocks bridge and snap some pics of those cool intake towers.
Recently, they tore down a buidling very close to where I work, at the corner of Taylor and the first street south of I-64, in the city. If you're heading north on Taylor from Manchester, it's the last street before you get to the bridge over the highway. I was told this building was a bakery but had no idea it was abandoned (or at least unoccupied and scheduled for demolition). But when they tore it down they left a stone basement right at the corner that appears to be much older than the building. What's interesting is that there are two door-size tunnels that head from this foundation to under the street. I can see them as I drive by on the way home. I'm going to have to check them out before they build anything there.

Yep, it's a bike trail now, you can ride from downtown StL to Grafton Ill.
I'll PM if I head out that way, I hope to this weekend.
