I would be down to go again sometime since I didn't make it to the top of the stack, plus I'd love the opportunity to go with someone more experienced.

One of these days I'm going to create a thread with directions and have the mod sticky it. That way I don't have to keep explaining.

Just upload it to photobucket or flickr or something and then copy the [img] code link into your post.

And make sure the pics aren't huge, otherwise we have to do a bunch of scrolling to see the whole thing and no one likes that.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

you can post most uploaded pics here by doing the following: Right click on it > Copy Image Location.

(But your link actually hides the image address from the public, so we can't use yours as an example. Can you get your actual image address from the pics you linked to above after signing into your google account? )

Then you'd come here, reply to the thread, paste the image location address, select all of the pasted address, click the IMG button and it'll throw the [img] tags around the image. It'll look like this in your comment text, but when you submit, it'll convert it to bbcode and show us the image.

Sometimes when the link is hidden or if it won't let you copy the link you can right click the page and view the source code and find the actual image address that way.

Really? I thought it was still in partial use. Or was that just 5+ years ago?

I've driven out to this place 5 times or more over the years. There were always more than a handful of personal vehicles on site. They continued/continue to do secondary smelting, IIRC. Primary smelting was shut down. That happened to be the majority of the plant, apparently.

We just went by this weekend and most of the plant is rubble. Pretty much just a smokestack and shipping docks now.

The lead factory, to my knowledge, is still there and abandoned, but I wouldn't suggest going in, cops are always around the area and watch the building pretty good, at least they were when I was there. There's a secret little beach area across the train tracks tho, if you wanna go down there it's cool, just make sure you have a small car, cause you have to drive on the side of a cliff...Pretty good date idea if you want a secluded beach off the river!

I was just there. The majority of the structures are rubble. I believe they're still running secondary smelting there, so there are some active buildings remaining, but the "abandoned" parts are gone/quickly coming down.

If I thought there was anything there worth doing while we were driving around, I would have tried. But, unfortunately, there wasn't.
