Road trip to explore Jeff City's lockups!

We will tour a 175-yr-old prison and be incarcerated overnight in a 0-yr-old jail. Expect a few unofficial stopovers that fit the theme. Launching from St Charles, but if you are already in mid-MO, you are welcome to meet us anywhere along the way on Saturday.

Itinerary:

•10am Assemble carpools and depart from I-70 & Zumbehl Commuter Lot, 2970 Veterans Memorial Pkwy, St Charles MO.
•12noon Lunch at Mugs Up Drive-In, 603 Orange St, Columbia MO.
•2pm Missouri State Penitentiary, 115 Lafayette St, Jefferson City MO. Advance booking required at www.missouripentours.com or 866-998-6998.
•5:30pm Surrender at the new Cole County Jail (320 E High St) for two hots and a cot. Advance reservations required at 573-634-9160.
•8am (Sunday) Jailbreak.
•?pm (Sunday) Return to St Charles.

Must be age 17 or older to attend. Please make all payments directly to the suppliers to help our Society's treasurer resist embezzlement and fraud. $12 for the State Pen tour and $30 cash or check to the jail covers your dinner, bed, breakfast, booking photo, and souvenir T-shirt. Lunch and gas ain't free either.

I was planning on taking a tour of that prison in a couple months with the ol lady, maybe we can come out and do it at this time instead. But if it's anything like Alcatraz, I'd recommend ditching the tour and striking out on your own to explore the place, if possible.

I've been thinking about making a thread in "Outside the Ozarks" for just that. It was easily one of the coolest places I've ever 'splored.

I bet Jeff City Prison is cool as well.
