Ruepple Mine, near Sullivan

Post by Chris »

I've long wondered why there was an "Acid Mine Road" leading away northeast from Sullivan. Finally figured it out!

Now, from the looks of things it doesn't look like there's much left.

I've been aware of the Ruepple for quite a while, but it never justified a visit. It seemed like it was an interesting site at one time - a 268' shaft with a couple hundred feet of workings is definitely neat. Still, not much left - winter freeze-thaw is harsh on unmaintained mine openings. The New Discovery inclined shaft at Silvermines is pretty well impassable because of it.

Good find!

No real way to get in there without an invite it looks like, though.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.
