I was wondering if anyone knows about the old speakeaasy in ozark? Agent K, a friend of mine mentioned an old diner/former speakeasy, and I was wondering if anyone knew about it, and could give directions?

I heard Riverside Inn was once a speakeasy... I also heard Kilarney Cliffs over south of Springfield on 160 used to be a speakeasy too.

One of my moms friends owns and lives in riverside...............They've told me that it was an old speakeasy. This place has all kinda of crazy "hidden" rooms and tunnels connecting some of the rooms underneath the place. I guess up on the second floor there is practically a whole house in which they live in.

I just read about a cave in the Bois D'Arc Conversation Area that was used as a speakeasy.
Here's what I found -
"Another loop of the trail takes the hiker by Watkins or Jones Cave. It is also known as "Speakeasy Cave," due to its rumored use as a site for a still during prohibition. This cave is accessible through a near vertical entrance.

The 1,500-foot-long cave is available to users only with a permit available at the Springfield Conservation Service Center. The permit requirement is designed to restrict the use of the cave to educational purposes. Area schools and beginning spelunkers find the cave easy to navigate."

I did a search here on the boards and didn't find anything about the Bois D'Arc cave, has anyone ever been there?

I keep hearing about the cave, but I have never been.

The one in Bois D' Arc is more of a sink hole that opens up. I ran Across it one day while hunting but cant even begine to tell you where it was that i ran into it. They had a 4-6ft chain link fence around it when i seen it last (4-5 years ago) I've heard of a few ppl rappelling into it, dont know how credible their story is though.

Only speakeasy I know of in area....

Downtown Springfield, McDaniel Street across from the CU Bus xfer station, there is a building used to be the Brazeal Building has a health food place there now... behind it is a building... the building was originally a "parking garage" for horse & buggys. There was a room upstairs, with copper tubing going down to a little room they'd let you in, and moonshine would trickle down if you knocked right and gave the guy some loot...

Building has been remodeled is some club now I think haven't been inside since that though.
