Phenix, MO (marble ghost town)

Post by Barracuda »

Found another interesting one. This one was a marble mining town. The town moved when the high-grade marble ran out. But there are two buildings that still stand (the manager's house and an old school). They are made of marble and couldn't be moved. Even the sidewalks are made of marble. It's said that Bonnie from the Bonnie and Clyde gang went to elementary school here.
Here's directions-
Head north of Springfield to Walnut Grove. Once in Walnut Grove just look for the old abandoned railroad bed. Follow it south and west out of town. It will take you right to Phenix.
There's supposed to be lots of information on this town in the Springfield-Greene county library.

I think most of the stuff we say would sound mean if we didn't already know each other. Well most of us know each other, so I'm sure if bluecookies sounded mean we already knew he wasn't.

I'm sorry if I sounded mean, I really didn't mean it that way at all. I've been working 12 hour days so I'm backed up reading all these so this was a little slow to reply to. Again sorry if it was taken wrong.
