abandoned bridges

Post by Static_Age »

I know of an abandoned bridge, in Centerville, Arkansas, just off of Highway 7 south.

its been tradition every New year, that me and my oldest group of friends go to this bridge.

from what I can tell its an old WMA, one lane bridge, steel undersupports, and wood planks to drive across (if you still could) there is not and has been for years a huge pile of dirt just before the entrance to the bridge.

unless you are in the "know" about the bridge, its pretty unlikely that anyone will ever be there, especially at night. its down a very long dirt road, off of highway 7 south, and you have to drive by several sketchy houses, with rebel flags and such things.

next time I go to my parents house, I'm going to take a trip out there, and get some pictures, and GPS co-ordinates.

I don't think static frequents the boards much any more. I know split has some pics. I forgot to take some. :)

oh BTW it's not abandon after all. When we went to check it out, the big pile of dirt had been removed and the bridge was in use.

There's the old railroad bridge in little rock next to the clinton library, parallel to the I30 bridge. I went at night, just left the car at the curb in front of the clinton library, it's fenced off but there's a hole in the fence a friend and I crawled through. Didn't see any other people the whole time we were out there, but people obviously do go ou there from all the graffiti. We climbed up to the very top of the thing. Some pics:

Nope, had it completely to ourselves. It was about midnight after a concert.

My friend and I went out there right after the Clinton library opened. At that point you could just take the concrete retaining wall next to the fence like stairs as access. Dunno if it's still that way. At least 2 cops came out and shined their light out our way. Either they didn't see us or didn't care.

You can no longer get on the bridge by the Clinton library, there is a huge fence in front of it. I went on it once when I was in junior high, no big deal. I think they are planning to make it into a pedestrian bridge, which would cool I think.

That's the old Rock Island Railroad bridge. It's been shut down for nearly 30 years now. The Corp of Engineers have wanted to take it down all this time as a "hazard to navigation". The plan now is to make it into a ped/bike lane bridge connecting to where the USS Razorback (WWII sub) is moored.
