Kilgore- ghost town

Post by Static_Age »

http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/ar/kilgore.html

This site has always been strange to me, it seems like some of this stuff is made up, or not very factual.

I am goingt o start documenting all the places I go to, with GPS co-ordinates, for my own records, and if others want to go ther.

I would like to see this "ghost town" and possibly spend the night there.

anyone interested?

I'm in, would like to take my bike (dual sport) to make the trip out there quicker. Anyone else have a DB, or ATV that would want to do that. I'm thinking ride the rails out and then camp.

If you mean ghosttowns.com, then yeah, it's a very high bullshit-to-truth ratio. I think it's mostly user submissions, so you get crap like touristy theme park "ghost towns", fully active towns with 2 or 3 abandoned houses, and in some cases towns that don't exist and never did. I always triple check anything I find on that website.

I've found that photo sharing sites like Flickr, and Google Image Searches, to be more accurate research tools, especially for judging the actual condition and habitation of a town.
