Yeah, I heard something, too, in our news...I wonder if Ruffin is trying to get it passed again.liesreality wrote:Your right that the slot machines didnt pan out.
I bumped this thread back to the top, because if you are thinking of getting into this place you may want to do so soon. This place was in the local news today. They are thinking of doing some remodel. A few different ideas with casino type ideas are floating around. Who knows if any of them will pan out again.

RE: Abandoned Dog Track
I imagine that they will do some work to the place, but as hard nosed as those good old boys are on the city, i dont think much will come out of it any time soon, unless they just want it to happen.
I used to live in Pittsburg. This place has set empty for so long. Its to bad it off of a major road through town.

RE: Abandoned Dog Track
The reason that it is abandonded is because the dog track when it was in operation payed out too often and the house lost. There were people that were petitioning the Kansas lottery to set it up with slot machines and open up the track again but the Kansas Lottery commission wanted to take too high of a percentage of the earnings to allow them to open so despite the remodeling that had begun the project was scrapped and its fell into disrepair again.
