Visual confirmation mod

Post by White Rabbit »

Well, if you noticed that the forum just lost about twenty users, there's a good reason for it. I had to delete about twenty or so users created over a period of weeks by a goddamn Russian spam robot. It would fill out the user form here, put the URL of a site they were promoting in the homepage field, and register. Even though they didn't confirm the email and couldn't post, it still showed up in our new user list and member list, in their hopes that one of you would click and buy their shit.

So, anyway, I installed a mod that makes it so new users have to type in a code from a randomly generated image file. This does make an added hoop for new users to jump through, but it should keep the fucking spambots out.
