I preface this post saying I have nothing against most mexicans. Except her and her mom, cause neither can speak good understandable English.

I didn't get the name of her mom's (the owner of the car) insurance co at the scene cause the cop gave me contact info for both the 22 yo girl driving and her mom. So i finally get home and realize the cop didnt have a phone for the mom. So i call 411. The mom's name and address has no phone attached to it in their records. So I call the girl and get the mom's #.

Then I call the mom, someone answers in gibberish. I'm like hey my name is X. The person hangs up on me. I'm like "FUCK!" I call them back. I say "Is this (mom"s name) I was in an accident with you daughter earlier I need the name of your car insurance co." Long couple sentences of gibberish. I'm like Does someone there speak English? Another sentence of gibberish and they hang up again. "FUCK FUCK FUCK!!"

So I call the girl back.
I'm like hey I called your mom no one spoke english do you know your mom's car insurance co?
"No."
Can you call your mom for me and find out?
gibberish.
Can you repeat that?
"No. She's at work. You call her tomorrow."
I'm like when tomorrow?
"Tomorrow morning."

Stupid people.

I accidentally rear ended a woman in Springfield. We were at a light and when the light turned green a cop blew the light perpendicular to me. She stopped in her little car way way faster than I could in my truck and I hit her at about 5 miles an hour barely scuffing the bumper. She didn't want to call the police and I was okay with that... I agreed to pay for damages and planned to pay out of pocket. The insurance investigator called a few days later and it ended up costing my insurance $4000 because she was "hurt." I know she was not hurt(as she told me that she wasn't because it was just a tap) but I kind of think that she didn't want to call the police for that reason. Needless to say my insurance went up, but the worst part was I had changed insurance companies just days earlier so now I am screwed for even longer.

Damage-wise I think I won... for least obvious damage that is...

My car:

Even though it looks like it could, my hood can't be opened now and that's radiator coolant on the ground.

Guess what? They have no insurance. :x

At least my deductible is only $250.

And if I can't get money from them, I'll take solace in the fact that their out a car and won't get any money for it or nearly free repairs like I will.

It's just peachy that we live in a state that requires car insurance for a license and plates and people don't have insurance. :x

Well, she was definitely looking a lot better today. If all goes as planned, she will go to some physical therapy place (she cracked her ribs) tomorrow for a couple days then back home.

Looks like I'm getting a new used vehicle. :(

I just learned that the days of me having this office all to myself in the "cave" here are over. This is an isolated office near the server room. We just hired some new guy and he will be in the other cubicle...

No more bouncing foam bricks off the wall for fun and exercise when I need a break from staring at a screen for a few minutes. I was getting pretty skilled at various methods of throwing, bouncing and catching these things, too...

Agreed. He probably won't mind.

Back when I worked at a bank, it had safety glass between the teller line and lobby. There was about a 3/4" gap between it and the ceiling. On slow afternoons, I got pretty good at shooting rubber bands through the gap into the lobby. Gawd I loved that job.
