Information about current online photo contests

Post by slow_walker »

Since there are a lot of people here interested in photography, I thought it might be cool to be keep a thread going of ongoing Photo Contests some of us might be interested in participating in. I know I could use the extra motivation to start using my camera more again. Plus some of them pay cash prizes.

I'll start us off with this one:

cool idea thanks.

FWIW: there are often contests on flickr based on whatever the subject is of the various groups that you join, but I don't know if the reward is ever anything more than getting your photo on the groups page. I'm not very active on there..

Here's one that's easy to enter. Submit a photo of your pet for a chance to win cash or lots of scratcher tickets!

The pictures must be received through the mail by Sept. 20 so the deadline is fast approaching on this one.

I have the most photogenic cat in the world (or maybe I just take way too many pictures of him) and I can't decide which of the below shots I should submit. Any opinions?

The last one's good. Can you edit it a bit to bring back some of the lost highlights in his chest area? The details are washed out a bit there, otherwise it's a good shot.

Actually, those were all random cell phone snapshots and I came to my senses and realized that was very lazy. I have a real camera and I should use it.

I think I'll do a little photo shoot this weekend using a bedspread on my bed as a background and a few little props. Sorta like this test shot I took last night. I'm thinking white is not the best background as it makes Jasper look yellowish.

More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

Ooh I have a ton of people pics! So many that I would have a huge problem choosing just one. Same with architecture, but I think I'm a bit better at people. Thanks for the link Nic!!

Hooray, my topic is being used for something other than me embarrassing myself by posting cell phone pictures of my cat. Seriously. WTF was I doing? Lol.
