Drove by this place today. Had to jump out and take a look around. Built in 1936 by the WPA. Unsure of it's history or what it was originally built for but it is The Castle Theater now, according to the no trespassing sign. I didn't go in since I was on the clock...also the doors were locked.
This one is my favorite. You can only trespass during certain hours.

Re: Dearing, Kansas
Drummer....that's when we went to Cato (see Cato post...)....we also saw the Joplin Union Train Station, took Rt. 66 from Joplin to Baxter Springs (huge disappointment...), saw the Pittsburg Train Repair Station (locomotives were running so we couldnt explore), and the Pittsburg Pottery Company...(another big disappointment....the people that live next door to the pottery place had all their stuff...grills, toys, etc...in there)....all in all, that trip sucked. Hubby said we should take Rt. 66 from Springfield to Joplin at the end of the month....maybe that will be more interesting. I think we are in a rut LOL!
