POSTING FROM CELL PHONE
I was just wondering if anyone has run into problems posting from cell phones. I have the Sprint HTC Touch and when ever I post I can only see one letter (nothing previous) so its kinda of hard to tell what you have typed and not typed. I dont know if it is just me or the phone or web site. Thanks for any thoughts

Re: POSTING FROM CELL PHONE
It's the website, not your phone. There's a problem with the CSS for the text boxes. It formats correctly in browsers, but it comes up all black on mobiles.
For now, this isn't something I can easily fix. But, this will be corrected whenever we get a new forum.

I'm looking at possibly upgrading the forum to phpbb 3. Assuming it doesn't cause huge problems with the forum, because I have HEAVILY modified the forum's code, the new forum shouldn't have this problem.doggboystl wrote:Thanks for the response good to know its not just me

I was wondering how that guy posted while on top of cotton belt!
There's a trick with css you can do to display certain items in mobile phones, but if you're working on a whole new forum anyway I guess it wouldn't matter...

Well it has to be done from within the code, so WR would be the only one who could do it...and he probably knows more about it than I do anyway.
All I know is that after not being involved in webmastering for like 5 years and now getting back into it alot has changed! CSS is changing the way pages are developed...
I believe it's in the declaration...can't remember off the top of my head.

Re: POSTING FROM CELL PHONE
Yeah I use a Motorola Hint now for mobile access. I getblack text on black background while I'm typing. A lot of buttons are also black on black so I kinda just do a trial and error clicking buttons for submit and preview. Also the "quote" button isn't active on my phone's browser.
I was using a Palm Treo and the site worked flawlessly on it. But the phone part of the that particular line of Treo really sucked and I was tired of carrying two phones so I switched to the Hint. (which I love by the way)
So the site is functional using my phone but I may end up with a few more posts with lots of typo's and random characters till I get good at it.

Does your Motorola Hint use WM?

Not positive but I think it uses a version of it. It has Openwave 7.2 as the browser.

Scratch that. Don't think it uses Windows Mobile. but it does use openwave.
