Not true. This may be the story they're telling you to keep you out, but Lindenwood actually harassed the residents to the point of having the city send them reminders to mow their lawns and threatening legal action for any infraction they could find. Real nit-picking asshole tactics. I know some of the people that lived in that area. The residents were not treated fairly at all.
Fuck Lindenwood. |
Psh! Don't scare the girl away. Lindenwood's my neck of the woods..
Also, yeah, asbestos is everywhere. Floor tiles, ceiling tiles, etc. It does become a problem during demolition, but I have a feeling some stuff slides. The term's often used are friable and unfriable, i.e. http://www.asbestos.com/abatement/friable.php |

| My point is that they weren't evacuated because of the asbestos. They were "evacuated" because Lindenwood and the city just wanted the land. The residents were harassed and treated like shit for years. They were all bought out eventually but it had nothing to do with asbestos. |

| I can't believe they would lie about why the buildings were "evacuated" ... or can I? |

Having older friends (my peers... ) in St. Chuck, I can concur on the Lindenwood story.
It is the 800-pound gorilla of St. Charles, much as WashU is the 8000-pound simian of UCity, Clayton, and STL.
And SLU is between 800 and 8000 pounds in STL.
Funny how WashU gets away with whatever it wants, whereas Fontbonne and Concordia have to fight.
Clayton also despised my old school, CBC.
SLU (like its prep former sibling, SLUH) pretty much gets its way in STL, as the City NEEDS its stability - and the revenue its student spend. |
