Good stance. It seems a lot of people view atheists as anti-god. I just seem to lack the ability to believe. I place no value on belief or disbelief. It's a personal thing for me. You believe? Not a problem for me. To me belief or lack of belief is like being either left or right handed. It's just a trait. And forcing someone to believe or disbelieve is as bad as forcing someone to use their other hand when they are inclined one way or another. |
Wow I was going back through posts looking for a link and I guess I missed this reply Brouser. It's funny you should say this. I'm left handed but my dad forced me to use my right hand to write with when I was young. I just remember him saying left handed people were weird. I think it's because of this that I have the penmanship of a 3rd grader.  But I still throw, bat, kick and punch lefty. And usually spot other leftys as well. Their watch is on their right wrist or their wallet is in their left back pocket. Also we thread our belts backwards.
Also, how I explain my atheism to people:
I'm an agnostic atheist. Agnostic, meaning, we can't know whether a god exists or not. But that doesn't mean I can't evaluate the probability of a god existing. Due to lack of empirical, scientific evidence that a god exists, I do not believe a god exists, hence, Atheist.

My wallet is on the left even though I'm a righty. Cause I wanted to be different from all the other guys I saw a school who all had there's on the right.

Interestingly, I'm a rigthy, but I've always had my wallet on the left because it just felt natural... weird huh? Of course I always put my keys in my left pocket to keep from scratching my pocket watches (and to keep from having too much in my right front pocket) but having the keys in my left pocket can be a pain in the ass since my right hand is usually the free one for doing things.

Wallet on the left because I'm lefty for about half of the things I do. Also because my left butt cheek is slightly smaller and I'm trying to pad it to look more balanced.

I'm a lefty who wears my watch on my left wrist. I also wear it upside down - as in the buckle is on the top of my wrist and the face of the watch is under my wrist. So I buy cheap $5 watches from WalMart because I keep them scratched up a lot. Especially since it's on the hand I write with and just scrapes across the table the whole time.
