Re: SubLunar
There were pallets with bags of some sort of powder in one of the buildings. Did you happen to find out what that was?

Re: SubLunar
Speaking of buildings with pallets in it, Sub did you get pics of the like 20 GIANT chains sitting on pallets in the bldg next to the machine shop?
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

Re: SubLunar
Long exposures. Some of the lab shots were taken with 20 second exposures. I do very little photo manipulation in post. As much as I hate lugging around equipment, this is where a tripod comes in. It's a fucking pain in the ass, but it's worth it for the long exposures.Nicotti wrote:How much photo manipulation did you do to those lab shots? Cause it was not that bright in there.

Re: SubLunar
To answer both you and nicotti, no. We were very rushed that day so we only had time for a handful of buildings there. I didn't see what either of you are asking about. I spent 50% of my time in the lab building because I love that kind of shit. I skipped the machine shop altogether. We decided that a return trip was required.BagHead727 wrote:There were pallets with bags of some sort of powder in one of the buildings. Did you happen to find out what that was?
Re: SubLunar
The materials storage building had many different types of bags in it. Most were labeled with serial numbers, the only obvious one was 'Soda Ash'.BagHead727 wrote:There were pallets with bags of some sort of powder in one of the buildings. Did you happen to find out what that was?

Evangelical Church
This post right here is several years in the making. I've lied awake at night with this place on my mind. I busted my ass to get in here: I was diligent, I checked in often and I paid my dues to the exploring gods. Finally, on this day, the exploring gods shone their countenance down upon my comrades and I and we were handsomely rewarded for the effort. There is perhaps no greater feeling than finally getting into a place you've had on your mind for so long.
Because this church was a virgin, I will be protecting its identity. If you know of this location, please don't share it publicly. If you want to know where it is, please don't make it awkward by asking me. Do your research, keep your eyes open and pay your dues. In the process you may very well find your own virgin church. Off the top of my head I can picture 3 vacant churches around town that haven't made it into the hands of explorers yet. When you can nab a successful hunt, especially after you've been stalking it for years, it makes the process all the more rewarding. Research (and wasting gas driving all around town) is 50% of exploring after all.
I haven't had as much luck with the history of this one yet. Once I find some history, I'll add it to the blog.

Thank you, I agree those kinds of places are always nice to find.
My usual policy on places like this is: if you want to see it, I'll take you there but I don't want to just give it up to anyone that asks for it.

Nice! Could you get up into those two towers, the outside top?

Re: SubLunar
I took some pictures from up at the top of the towers, but it was suuuuper cramped up there, so I wasn't able to move enough to get any decent shots without falling off the ladder or sitting in a puddle of icy water.
The ladder rungs were "anchored" in brick, and for a moment, I pictured White Rabbit in a similar situation... Scary.

Regarding the chemical plant, I remember there was talk a few years back that the area was gated off, under security or possibly under rehab. Obviously those plans fell through?
