I'm going to check in with you guys since, some of you have better knowledge or resources than I, and i'm sure someone has been to cave mountain near Hawksbill crag Anyway does anyone know if the saltpeter mine at cave mountain is still there?
Okay I know Union troops went through the area and destroyed the works, But that might meant they only destroyed the equipment.
I also read that confederate troops and sympathizers would return to the saltpeter mines a few weeks later to resume mining in other saltpeter mines across the ozarks. So I might still be around with a complete shaft. Not sure though so i was going to check in with you guys. here's a couple of links

The cave is closed right now like all the rest. There are signs at the parking area and the cave entrance is locked up.
