Camp Skullbone
I found this awesome abandoned camp in Cedar Hill today. I didn't have time to walk all the way up the hill to check out the buildings in the woods though (because I always stumble across the best shit when it's the end of the day and I have to go home), but it definitely deserves further exploration from someone here at least, if not me.

RE: Camp Skullbone
The only thing that sucks is that there is no place to hide my car. It sits too low to make it over the chain and I have no idea what the road is like past it. From what I saw from the little bit I walked up, it didn't look all that great, and I really don't want to have to back down a big curvy hill if I get stuck.
I wish I had a motorcycle. That would be perfect for this.

I just sent Gundaker a message requesting permission and offering resulting pictures. We'll see how it goes. This this the first time I've actually tried this.

RE: Camp Skullbone
Thanks guys!
BTW, the real estate agent called back and said that she doesn't have time to show me around personally, but she called the property owner about it (he still lives there somewhere) and if he contacts her back and says it's ok she will call me back. Now that I know he lives there, I am kind of glad I didn't walk up that hill!!

RE: Camp Skullbone
I found this blog. My sister actually was a caretaker for this camp with her husband years ago. I helped her one summer. It was a camp for underprivileged inner-city youth. It was absolutely amazing nature there i enjoyed seeing the images you posted i would love to know what is happening with the property now

RE: Camp Skullbone
I was a camper at Camp Skullbone in the late 1950s, early 60s. I lived in north St. Louis and we went there from a United Way agency called Neighborhood Association. I am 70 years old now. It was a very memorable and fun part of my youth, and I have been trying to find the camp again since I was about 40. I happened on the post in this forum and was able to find the camp (with a little more sleuthing) in October 2016. Wow, what memories. I returned to the site to show my wife, in April 2017 and was told by a 'caretaker' that the property has been sold and the buildings, pool, etc were going to be demolished very soon. He didn't say what plans the new owner had for the site.
