Unfortunately, you're giving that fucking moron youtube views which equal money.

He dresses like that for views. I imagine he's a SJW, so I'm surprised no one has called him out for "cultural appropriation" with that head dress.

Also, what the fuck is with the auto-tune "impressions"? It's fucking auto tune. God damn..

Yesterday I realized that when you turn left on a motorcycle, you turn the wheel to the right. When you turn right, you turn the wheel left.... I guess it makes sense when you really think about it, but my mind was blown when I first realized that. It's so counter intuitive to turn the wheel in the opposite direction that you want to go, yet you do it without ever noticing it.

This is called countersteering.

Yes, countersteer all the time. It's easier and more precise. Don't pull the bars.

Push left = turn left, push right = turn right.

I don't get it. Granted I'm usually on dirt or gravel but I've never once thought about this.

When are you doing this? All the way through a turn or just at the beginning of a turn? I've gone around 90-100mph on knobby tires on pavement and I've taken turns leaned pretty far over. Maybe I've done this without thinking about it.

Not sure if this is one of those situations where people make a term for something that comes naturally or if this is some different technique that takes conscious effort. Kind of like when people started gushing about "cable management" as if it was a new thing when prior to my learning of the new thing, I just adhered to not having tangle messes of fucking cables everywhere. Turns out I was practicing cable management already. Or "gain staging" which is just getting your levels correct.

EDIT: Ok I looked at the wiki page and yeah this is just something that comes naturally without thinking about it when you ride. Never thought about it before. Seems a trivial thing to deserve a name but I guess it becomes more important when racing and such.

I don't think it's natural instinct to push the bars. I think most people pull the bars. To countersteer, you should feel the (light) pressure in your palms, not in your fingers like when pulling.

It takes conscious effort at first, but it becomes natural after a while. It is done at all times on pavement under power except low speed maneuvering the bike around to get in a parking spot.

On dirt/gravel, you are more prone to upright maneuvers and kicking the ass out a little. In that case, you are man-handling the bars a lot more and not really able to countersteer.

I skipped around these videos but they get it correct from what I've seen:

In the words of my friend, "anyone who doesn't believe in countersteering has never gone faster than 5mph."

It's a natural part of my riding and never once thought about it as its own thing before. It would be like calling laying in bed before sleeping "pre-sleep". Just something I've always done without putting any thought into it.

This is for sure the cave at Meramec Highland quarry. It's named Watson Cave.

Ah yes, that's right. Wet cave full of salamanders. Shame they blocked off the 270 portion, but I recall the cave petering out long before then so I don't think anyone could ever make it that far.

I have heard there is a "walking cave" possibly accessible along 270 in that area.

There are a BUNCH of openings along the rock cuts on the east side of 270 from Big Bend up to Manchester.

That first one I've always wondered about as well. It looks like it opens up in there.
