That eclipse was absolutely the most incredible thing I've seen. I hope some of you looked at if for a few seconds without your glasses at totality. It was cool that the cicadas started singing, I saw a couple bats, and a hawk was circling while it was dark.

+1 Quite an unforgettable sight for sure. Venus became visible and even the weird ambiance for the couple minutes before and after totality were so cool. 10/10 would watch again. Pictures just don't do it justice, unfortunately.

It was freaky to see a black spot where the sun should've been! The corona was super clear and visible during the totality, crazy to see it with the naked eye.

Absolutely!

I keep having to explain to people the difference between a normal partial eclipse that we've all seen before and the totality. So many confused people out there who don't know. People are dumb.

I was fortunate to have seen it as well and the whole thing was awesome. I just wish I hadn't been surrounded by dumb coworkers the whole time but at least my wife joined us so I had some nice company.

And yeah I didn't even bother with pictures. I knew it would only last a minute or so and I didn't want to be distracted by screens and buttons and shit. No regrets.

I was able to look at the corona through binoculars, it was really cool.

I also saw "shadow bands" on a white pickup truck hood. Had no idea those were "a thing" and had to Google them when I got home.

Thank you mindwaave for the pictures that tell a story about the pool in Excelsior Springs. I have had a lot of trouble trying to post any pictures of my own, here, unfortunately. When i worked at The Hall of Waters, i did go down into the old abandoned (given up on for rooty-poot stores up and down the blvd.) pool area. Now the PD keeps stolen bicycles and such down around the pool. it looked kinda sad lol. i think of Roosevelt and the calcium water of the pool that was said to keep you buoyant. I've heard some men say that it was hard to swim down. Of course, we all know that women float and men sink... right? But to think this was one of Roosevelt's 10 famous sites he had built throughout his long, long presidency filled me with wonder and joy to imagine him floating in the big pool and the lap pool with the attachments to it for people in wheel chairs "way back then/when" :) Sorry i haven't been here but am glad i got a notification! I have hope for my area to have some meet-ups this Spring!
