What do you do to protect your self in Scary Area's?
RE: What do you do to protect your self in Scary Area's?
I just bring my 4 D cell maglite, It is big and I have used it to break concrete before, and does not look odd for an explorer to have one. As long as someone does not have a gun I should be alright, I generally worry about bums more than hobos anyway. Besides, only 1 out of 10 shots hit a person on the move, and out of ten shots that hit only 1 is lethal if not treated.

Well, I walk loud. And I carry a bigger stick. And I love babies. Gimme some babies.

Speaking of East St. Louis...you can't carry any weapon concealed in Illinois.
Wouldn't carry any weapon while exploring (knife, gun, whatever) and I'm a gun nut. As others have said, you're far more likely to run into police or security than someone who wants to fuck your pooper or take your wallet.

A .410 does not have much shot, unless you are close they tend to be ineffective. That is why I had to upgrade to a 12 gague.MONKEYMANN wrote:Yea...that kind of eliminates the whole "Miss your Target" factor...I love those 410 pistols...when I do decide to finally break down and buy a firearm...thats definatly going to be high on the list!!!!ARLT1YJ wrote:Dude, my dad just got one of those... I was talking about with a shotgun, same round but with a shorter barrel. The spread would be crazy.

What kind of people do you meet at work that makes you carry a gun? Your not the Repo person are you?Kit wrote:I will note mine isnt for UE.. but for some of the places i go and some of the people i meet for work
Anyways, I NEVER carry a gun when I go exploring places. I do keep a sharp knife available though.
White Rabbit is correct. If you get stopped by the cops while exploring and you have a gun on you, they think you are up to more than just exploring.
I have a 9mm Taurus with a 15 round clip, but it is for target practice only. Unless someone breaks into my home or fucks with the car. I have put it up to someone's head once. They got in the Integra and they were trying to hot wire it. Luckily I caught them on our driveway video camera before they could break anything. When I pulled that thing out and pointed it, they ran off like a scared cat.
Its frightening how polished stainless steel gun metal looks like under street lights at 4 am.
