Last weekend, we also went through Akron, KS (from US-77, take 82nd Road west to 75th Road, which is the old highway...head south and you will come to Akron...). The town is unincorporated and there is an abandoned school there. A co-worker told me that the school isn't that old. I would have loved to gain access, but there was a house across the street with the front door open. I don't know who owns the property, but I am researching it, hoping to at least get the o.k. to look around.
