“The Infamous Sofa Stain” A Mysophobic’s Nightmare.

The Challenge: Get a photo of either you or a friend or family member sitting or lying on the stained portion of a sofa, bare skin has to be seen touching the stain in the photo. (This may require the sofa sitter to wear skimpy clothes such as short shorts, no shirt, a bikini or buck naked if they’re brave enough. ) Extra points awarded for planking and/or putting your face into a stain.

Challenge Details:
Feral sofa having a stain size of a minimum 4” x 4” on upholstery should be found. Sofas previously photographed for this competition can be used again. Stains on cushions preferable but if stain is on the arm or back upholstery, cushions aren’t required, however participant still has to be sitting or lying on stain for it to count. Stains may be created if none can be found, however a feral sofa is still required as the base. Created stains must be gooey, slimy, or in some way gross to touch or lay on and a minimum 12” x 12” in dimension. If the found stain is dry, I request you wet it with some water (just to make it even more gross, ). The sofa sitter must be touching most of the stain, no touching just a dinky 1” corner of a stain or something like that.

A single sofa and/or stain may NOT be used for multiple contestants.

1st photo is of the sofa in its location.
2nd photo is of the stain (found or created)
3rd photo of the sofa sitter, bare skin must be visible touching the stain in the photo.
(optional) 1 close up photo of skin to stain contact if it can’t be seen well in 3rd photo.

Challenge Point Value:
20 points for a found stain
10 points for a created stain

Planking on the stain gives a 5 point bonus for style.
Having one’s face in contact with the stain gives a 10 point bonus for bravery.
You can earn both point bonuses.


Post all 3 photos (optional 4th) and a short description of the stain, either what you think it is (found) or what it is (created).

As always, faces of persons photographed may be masked, blurred, buried in a stain or other to preserve anonymity.

May only be completed once per contestant.

Once again, a run down on stain sizes:
- A found feral sofa with stain, previously photographed for the competition or not, needs a minimum 4” x 4” stain.
- A feral sofa with a created stain needs the stain to be 12” x 12” minimum.

And make sure stains are visible in the photos, no points for invisible stains.

Well I was out of town this weekend, visiting my family so they could celebrate my birthday. Heaven forbid they should drive up to see me, I must go down and see them. And I didn't even get any damn cake.

Also, since I was in a rural setting all freaking weekend AND it rained the whole damn time I did not gain any couch pictures over the weekend. Hell I didn't even read the weekend challenge until I got back home Sunday evening.

Grumble, grumble.

“Sofa Sculpture” Abandoned Art

Challenge: Turn an abandoned sofa into a work of art.

Challenge Details: Find an abandoned sofa and paint it, or add props to it, or whatever to change it from a drab abandoned thing to something new and different. Things that might make people who see the sofa next go, “WTF!?!” People, places, things, animals, graffiti, whatever, use your imaginations!

Example: Maybe paint some basketballs to look like eyeballs, add some wooden fangs, a black sheet “cape”, and position the one sofa so it looks like it’s feeding off another sofa like a vampire. With a splash of red paint “blood” and a horrified look on the fed upon sofa. (Can’t do that though, my idea )

Submitting a photo of your artwork gives you 30 points. In addition, after the submission time closes, if there is more than one entry, there will be a “fan favorite” vote open to all forum members to choose their favorite sculpture. That person will gain an extra 10 points.

Fan Favorite competition will run from Tuesday till the end of the main competition (Friday).

Okay, well I suck and didn't get any sofa sculptures created, but I do have a few general sofa pictures to upload.

Ok, Slow, I couldn't tell if the sofas in pic #2 were by a dumpster or not so I gave you the benefit of the doubt and gave regular points and I deemed the area in pic #4 to be a "wilds" area. So you've got...

Pic 1 - 1 dumpster sofa = 1 pt
Pic 2 - 1 upright without cush, 1 upright with cush = 8 pts
Pic 3 - 1 upright with cush = 5 pts
Pic 4 - 1 upright with cush in wild, 1 nonup in wild = 14 pts
Pic 5 - 1 dumpster sofa = 1 pt

So as I stepped out of my house this morning heading to work, I see a sofa in the back of a truck stopped at the stop sign on my road. I stare at it for a second then think SOFA CHALLENGE!. The truck took off. I bolted to my vehicle and chased the truck down.



I got the pic while it was moving. Not sure if there are extra points for that.
