RE: Washington Park Cemetary
Pretty sure they were talking about my pics in this... I don't see how that is vandalism but whatever. They seem to have an issue blaming the person responsible so fuck the news.

BTW, I found out from a reliable source that this guy only paid $2 for this place. WTF? You would think a cemetery where people paid money to be buried there would be worth more than that.

Oh, and they SHOW on this station where you could see the body. So how is it vandalism because a picture or two was taken? It's called photojournalism, albeit extreme.

...and one more story I came across. Either they were not talking about my pictures, and others have been posted somewhere, or they have no idea who the hell I am, which is a good thing. I did take the pics down though.
Re: Washington Park Cemetary
Obviously they weren't talking about you, the article says some teens took photos and put them online, and you're no teeny bopper.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

Yeah but if they saw them posted on here, it doesn't tell my age. I'm sure I'm not the only one who took pics though.

Re: Washington Park Cemetary
$2...I'd so hoped that was a typo, but apparently not. Kinda bugs me that the rely solely on the families for the upkeep. Most cemeteries I've been to provide general upkeep, like cutting the grass on a regular basis and they leave it up to families to provide and remove flowers and other grave decorations. Why is this one so different?

Re: Washington Park Cemetary
Honestly it's not that easy to maintain these old cemeteries. When my parents bought our farm it included a civil war era cemetery on the property. I remember all of the head stones were knocked over, remnants of caskets were exposed, and trees were growing in the middle of it. It took a lot of time and money just to reset the stones and clear the foliage. I can't imagine trying to maintain one the size and condition of Washington Park

I don't remember the details of your photos exactly, but ya, if people were posing next to that young man's remains, I'd consider that wrong and on the disrepectful side. This was his place of rest after a tragedy. I'm glad that this story got out there and he now has a proper burial place.

RE: Washington Park Cemetary
If they are referring to my pics, she wasn't posing. She just happened to be looking through the other side and her face got in the shot. It was purely unintentional, so I didn't think about that when I posted them. One of the reasons why I posted the pics is to raise awareness about it. He has been moved and is no longer in that state, so I didn't feel right leaving them up. I hope this all has given the man who owns this place a huge wake-up call. If he can't afford to take care of it, he needs to turn it over to someone else who can. Shame on the city of Berkeley too. They have never offered to help. All they care about is ticketing him.
Re: Washington Park Cemetary
I don't see why Mandi should have to defend her posting the pics online. I back her that it was neither disrespectful or wierd or taboo or whatever for her to post the pictures here.
I think all you people that do think that need to gather your torches and pitchforks and head over to the history museum to burn any pictures of mummies that may be there. Oh that's right, it's okay to look at those dead people... cause they've been buried longer.

Re: Washington Park Cemetary
But why would they burn something that is both historic and educational?

Sleep is a waste of time, you can sleep when you are dead
Re: Washington Park Cemetary
Because they need to get rid of the photos of dead people. It's disrespectful and pretty messed up.BagHead727 wrote:But why would they burn something that is both historic and educational?
