Tulsa I44
Tulsa I44
Was bored on my way through tulsa one day and decided to stop and wander around the cut off section of I44. Not much there really but it would be a good place to ride pit bikes or something.
Probably a mile or so long, and still has bridges intact.

Ah yes, one of the only abandoned highways I know of for a long way around these parts. Definately would be a cool place for street racing...

Was this the entrance to the Will Rogers turnpike before the creek turnpike was built?
RE: Tulsa I44
Yup, sure was. You can see it clear as day on google maps.

You can see it as you drive into tulsa on I44 to your right, the picture was taken on a one lane bridge that crosses about in the middle of it.

I've lost track of the number of time's I've been tempted to just gun my car off the road and haul balls down that strip.

I dont condone street racing, but that would be a great place to race without much risk to anyone. How long is that stretch of highway?
We are all just sloguns waiting to have our triggers pulled.

Here are a few snaps that I took back in February.
It's a neat place. Not many places can you walk on an abandoned freeway.

I would love to take a model out there and get some kick ass shots! I didn't realize it was still there until the UER meet up was scheduled.
Re: Tulsa I44
If I can get my car out there, I'll personally race anyone who is up to the challenge.

I am a road enthusiast and I hosted a meetup in February and the abandoned Will Rogers Turnpike was one of the featured sites we visited. It was a hit with all the attendees. We also visited 3 large truss bridges over the Arkansas River west of Tulsa. I took some videos driving across the bridges if anybody is interested in seeing them.

Never officially timed it at a track, but it's around just over 13 seconds at 110mph.cobcob wrote:I'm game!! What do you run in the 1/4?Jags&Pointers wrote:If I can get my car out there, I'll personally race anyone who is up to the challenge.
