Some stuff in the woods in Weldon Springs
I found some cool things in the woods yesterday. The big staircase-looking thing is a dam project that was abandoned in the 40s. Also found a former Hamburg town dump. There is a lot of bottles and other old stuff scattered all over the place. We actually walked down a former road. It was awesome and a little spooky to think we were walking right past where houses used to sit. There is some remains of homesteads left, but I didn't find any because I ended up loosing my phone and by the time I found it it was pretty dark.
Old cemetery. It was too dark to get any decent pics so this is what I got...

where's this at?
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

About 2.5 miles from D on 94. There's a metal gate with 3 big rocks next to it. Just park in the grass and follow the trail behind the gate.

I know! There's like 20+ cemeteries out there in the woods, and some more dump areas. I'd love to explore some of the big buildings if I can figure out how to get to them.
I also heard about some caves, but I have no clue where they are.

The big stuff is on government property on the other side of the fence.

Cool pics, thanks for sharing!
I am not sure it's been posted here before but I found a pretty cool blog about Hamburg, Howell & Toonerville that you guys and gals might find intersting.

I have been trying to get my hands on a copy of the book "The Rape of Howell & Hamburg" by Donald K. Muschany... It has proved rather elusive!

Yup that's the one I hiked...
I really want to see what I can find in those old dumps. Some of those families were there since the 1700s!

The old rail bridge that used to connect a spur from the MKT mainline to the TNT plant. At one time the bridge still had the rails on it but last time I was out there they had cleared away the brush and pulled the rails off and paved it to be used as detour while they were doing work on the main part of the Katy Trail.
I think I might head out to Hamburgh later on today. It's been awhile since I have been out there.

I am looking for pictures of the old Howell school which was on the plants property after the gov took over the 3 towns. Heard it was on the national guard base but have not been able to find it.
